When I was a kid one of my favourite shows was the Muppet Show! I loved everything about it, the characters, the puppets, the colours, the humour but especially I loved Fozzie Bear. Fozzie Bear was really one of the underdogs of the show. He was a comedian who was not very funny. He was always stuffing up his routine but he had unfailing optimism and he was a regular fixture. I don’t think I realised it at the time but Fozzie really spoke to me. He kept on ...
In my defence let me begin by saying that I was very sleep deprived when this happened. I was messing about on my phone, wasting time and while on facebook up popped a page for Rege Jean Paige, the leading man from Bridgerton - Season 1. I loved the series and clicked through on the page and the top post was a nice photo with the heading that said something like ‘Looking like a champion’ and I burst out laughing. I commented ‘Humble” with a ...
It can be so easy these days to make assumptions and judgements about people. People we may never have met. Everybody is living their life in the public eye and so we feel that they are somehow subject to criticism because of that. Take the Kardashians (or Car Crash-ions as French and Saunders called them). They are subjects of equal ridicule and slavish admiration. Many people see them as vacuous self-promoters who create little of value and live an over-indulged ...
Always at this time of year I’m starting a wonderful few weeks of dreaming of the future. The new year is well and truly underway and the first quarter is coming to a close, but its also a time to really let my imagination take off. I used to just use it to do a bit of a stock take and jot down a few ideas for moving forward for the year but now I use it to really let fly with the ‘If I couldn’t fail what would I do” type plans. There’s a ...
One of the things I like to do at home is spend a bit of time in my little veggie patch. I can’t claim to having terribly green thumbs but I get an enormous amount of pleasure from growing things to eat. Now that our dog is a little bigger and not eating the plants i decided that I’d try again for some tomatoes ( tomato leaves can be toxic to dogs!). I planted two kinds, little round cherry tomatoes and a larger variety I can slice for sandwiches. I’ve ...
One of the things I’ve found most challenging with having a chronic illness is the fatigue and brain fog. I’ve always liked being organised. I like nothing more than a good list I can cross stuff off. I like to set a heavy schedule (usually unachievable) just to push myself. I can count on one hand the number of times I complete my weekly to do list! Rheumatoid arthritis has other ideas. Frequent poor sleep, chronic pain, fatigue and brain fog all characterise the condition and ...
