My New BFF from Bridgerton

In my defence let me begin by saying that I was very sleep deprived when this happened.  I was  messing about on my phone, wasting time and while on facebook up popped a page for Rege Jean Paige, the leading man from Bridgerton - Season 1.  I loved the series and clicked through on the page and the top post was a nice photo with the heading that said something like ‘Looking like a champion’ and I burst out laughing.  I commented ‘Humble” with a laughing emoji.  Next thing I know there’s a DM from the page asking me ‘Are you a fan of mine?’  I was a bit shocked so I thought about it for a moment and wondered a) why would he direct message me? And b) had I inadvertently stumbled onto a personal page.  So my reply was ‘Yes. I think I may have commented on a personal page.  Apologies for any intrusion.’  Almost immediately he DM’d again.  ‘Is this the first time you’ve contacted me?’  It took till then for the penny to drop - I was being scammed.  I went back and looked carefully at the page - less than 50 followers, the name spelt wrong and all promo style shots which would be easily found online.  No personal images.  I didn’t bother replying but instead reported the page.  

I was a little angry with myself for not realising sooner but you know what? We’re not all on the ball all the time.  Sometimes we take a little time to get to where we need to be.  We all need to figure things out in our own time, at our own pace.  Have you every been in a situation and its taken a long time for you to see the truth?  We’re not all born to be critical thinkers.  I know I’m not but I do hope that I only need to make most mistakes once.  Instead of being angry with myself I should have been a little more compassionate - I may not have seen the ruse instantly but it didn’t take too long for me to catch on.  My anger should have been directed squarely at the perpetrator - they clearly were up to no good and trying to entrap unsuspecting people probably for financial gain!  Hopefully, I’ll be a little sharper if it ever happens again.  Mind you if George Clooney DM’s me, I may take a little time to work it out! 😜
